Who are you!

At our first week at Henry Elementary working with a combined 7th+8th grade class, students were tasked with writing an introductory poem: What is the one thing you want people to know about you? We read Anis Mojgani poem titled “Out of the Garden” and looked at using inanimate objects to help describe how we feel and who we are.

I am usually sensitive most of the time
So I cry easily.
Just like a rock that is fragile.
That is also smooth but
raindrops can cause it to break down.

Oh fluf, oh fluf
I love the way you feel.
You bring happiness
to me
You may remind me of an awful memory
Yet I still love the way your hug feels.

You make me happy
yet depressed
the memories tied to you
make me cry, oh cry
I feel bitter sweet
with you

You remind me
of a sad memory
that had me crying
at night
but yet I still have you
and hold on to you
You may be locked away
But I still cherish you.

I have four siblings. But sometimes we’re like fruits and vegetables.
Yet help each other out since we’re still family.
Our love for each other flows through us like water in a stream.
