Where I’m From

Clissold’s 7th and 8th graders got right to it this week, with poems about the places, people and things that make them who they are. We talked about what home is, and how it shapes our sense of self and identities.

I’m From

Cheyenne O.

8th Grade

Where I’m from going to my grandparent’s

house is where the memories begin.

I come from where family is so important

so sad others can’t afford it.

I come from my mom and dad “you’ll feel worse pain”

and “work hard to get it”

Where I’m from a family treat is greens

I come from where the deck of cards keeps us from the screens

I come from the dinner table, everything happens

here.

Where I’m from witnessing is better vs ear to ear

I come from think before you act, it’ll cut you

from slack.

Where I’m from don’t engage just behave.

I come from mind your business and just stay away.
