Poetry Celebration!

Greetings Galileo poetry friends and followers! All of the fourth graders had a blast celebrating and sharing our poems out loud during our final day together.

Please help us celebrate by looking back through all of the poems that have been published this spring!

Students have written poems describing themselves and powerful parts of their bodies… poems celebrating family members… poems working with rhythm… and poems using vivid, sensory imagery to express memories of music. You will find short and long poems… rhyming and unrhymed poems… poems that make you smile, or move your heart, or make you laugh… poems in all sorts of styles, shapes, and sounds.

Fin feet
Mateo E.

When I swim my feet move like a fast fish

Every time I wake up my feet
   wiggle like a fish

When I walk my feet feel like fins

When I sit my feet feel like gel

My free hair
Ashlee M.

My hair is like a tree
going through the branches

Feeling free like the wild

Shining all through beauty

My mouth is a speaker
Alexander P.

My mouth is a speaker
and it’s loud like a lion
it’s never stopping

and it’s loud like waves
and loud rivers
rocks hitting the ground

The Music Trip
Damian V.

When I was listening
to music with my dad
in the car

I could see the big
open road
at my fingertips

I could hear mariachis
crying with joy
the sweet sound of Pilsen

I could touch
my dad’s big hands
and the warm leather
seat

This makes me happy
to remember that
I had a fun
time on a trip
with my dad
