Poemas Sonoros/Sound Poems

For week two, the 4th grade poets at Volta read two poems that included descriptions of sounds and examples of onomatopoeia. They listened to poems with a rooster announcing itself every morning and a car blaring its horn. The poets then catalogued the sounds they heard at home, outside, and at school. They wrote about the voices of their parents or siblings waking them up every morning, the engines of cars, music playing in the school gym. Los Ruidos Alessia P.

En la mañana escucho la alarma,
tic toc.
En la mañana escucho los truenos,
bom bom.
En la mañana escucho los pajaritos,
pio pio.
En la mañana escucho los gatos,
miau miau.

Al despertar lo primero que oigo es
a mi hermana negando despertarse.

Seguido el tssssss que hace el sartén
cocinando.

Cuando salgo escucho a los gatos
maullando, miau, miau, miau.
