cussin on the court
till your little brother shows up
with a half a candy bar kid
-Eve L. Ewing, to the notebook kid
This lesson centered around Eve L. Ewing’s consoling poem, to the notebook kid. Students talked about future plans, dreams and goals before writing their own poem on those very topics.
Lesson Note: ‘Like the kid who learns to play basketball without a coach, [one] acquires the basic skill of writing. To acquire the skill of basketball, [one] need only to watch others play and to practice. Imitation and repetition. You practice and then you learn. More accurately, you learn while doing. ‘-Jim Sollisch, creative director at the Marcus Thomas advertising firm.

My parents are supportive
They want what’s best for me.
They always told me I could be whatever I
want to be.
In the real world you have to work to become
successful.
Later in life I want to become an
Architect.
In my heart I know this is what I was
meant to be.

When in around my friends I feel like
I can do anything
Become rich never to sleep or even
ride in limozines
But when i’m in the hood I get
Those very Dangerous Dreams saying
That ill never Be nothing. But if you
Believe you can Achieve anything
All my life there’s been people who
Believed in my and helped me achieve
all my hopes & Dreams

I dreamt that one day i would wake up to something
Something that eventually leads to nothing
you were my everything
But nothing lasts forever
I have lucid dreams
Where no one moves a thing
In my dreams I see things
Replacing one
Easier said than done
Listen to your head instead of your heart

Being Happy
Valentin V.
News article, Parents,
advertisements and ore. Hearing and
seeing it all. Don’t know if nay of it
is right or wrong.
I hear stories of people
stopping shooters. I read comics
and see superheroes. But on the
news I see our president wanting
to attack Syria. I hear my parents
argue about the littlest things
All I want is to be happy.
Not be the richest person alive,
not to be famous, not even live
long.
Cause no matter how young
I am when I die, no matter how
much money I have, no matter if nobody
noticed me, I know that in the
end, I’m happy.
