Exquisite Corpse “the dark slapstick”

This week 6th and 7th graders worked together to create exquisite corpse poems. Each student responded to a prompt “What animal scares you the most?” and passed their papers to the next student to either write a line based on another prompt or their classmate’s response above. Together they created a series of collaborative poems. Please enjoy a selection of them below.

A tarantula

A tarantula scares me because they’re long and furry and look

weird. the color green is just a color, no hate but not a favorite, a pretty

mid color, grass, trees, nature. Seattle has hills and puget sound.

bugs and fish all around. Chicago has no hills, no

sound, no fish, but bugs are all around. I hate

bugs but they are so cute.

My favorite animal is a cat because they are very

small, quiet, and cute.

la estación que menos me gusta es el invierno

porque no podemos ir a el lago o a la piscina

pues no lo perdi como tal pero hace

un tiempo que ya no lo veo

Bugs scare me

Bugs scare me especially spiders, they crawl and are just weird and creepy,

Green means life and grass to me, noting

it is very green and wet, muddy, disgusting

The sounds around me scare me sometimes if it is too loud

Nada, no tengo pregonas para ellos en realidad, pero bueno

my favorite song is Hasta la muerte by Ivan Cornejo

pues para mí el color verde es solo un pobre otros es suerte

la oscurida me da demasiado miedo

I went home to fresh cookies

I saw the alligator’s sharp teeth

I saw the alligator’s sharp teeth

It was super scary. It was LARGE

Florida and Chicago, Florida is warm and tropical, Chicago is

cold and windy, I love Florida and I love Chicago. I want to know

what they were like as kids: nice mean, funny, or kind of mid.

I love living in Florida.

I hate big animals that are bigger than humans whether

it is a water animal or land. the color green reminds me

of the palm trees in California and Florida.

Yo no salgo de mi casa solo y ido al lago

pero fue hace un tiempo ya

como estas la casa bien pero…

Eres la razón de mi sonrisas, con quien sueño
