The Chicago Poetry Center Board invites you to join us at Bigger Table: Write & Give Back – a thematic writing fundraiser series to support poetry programming at Chicago Public Schools.
Date & Time: November 6th (Wednesday) – The workshop begins promptly at 4 pm (arrival encouraged anytime after 3:45 p.m.) and ends at 6 p.m.
Registration: Sign up for the workshop on Eventbrite, with a suggested sliding scale of $15-$25. If price is a barrier, please email shivani@poetrycenter.org for a no-questions-asked fee waiver.
Host: The facilitator & host for November 6th will be Shivani Gupta, Development Committee Chair for CPC.
Theme: The theme for the November 6th workshop will be Food & Gathering. This generative writing & sharing space is open & suitable for writers & poetry fans of all levels.
Format: We have a facilitated discussion on a curated poem packet of 1-3 poems. Following which the facilitator guides the group through individual writing time with exploratory prompts that draw on themes from the poems. We will have space at the end for individuals to share what they wrote/share some reflections from the session (optional).
Note: The poem packet & prompts will be shared as a PDF with all participants via email. You may request a printed copy 2 days in advance if preferable.
Guideline: Come as you are for a gentle writing, discussion & sharing space. Bring your writing utensils – analog or digital. Know that your presence & contribution directly support poetry programming for students in Chicago Public Schools. We can’t wait to meet you!
Fundraising Goal: Our fundraising goal from this series is $2,500 to together SPONSOR ONE CLASSROOM.
ABOUT THE SPACE
All Together Now is a funky little restaurant, wine shop, and cheese counter in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood. It exists to gather people around food and drink. The wine is natural, the cheese is extra-special, and the food highlights the tastiest things about being a Midwesterner. Food and drink will be available to purchase before/after the workshop.
Accessibility: Restrooms are single-user and gender-neutral. All Together Now is ADA-compliant and fully wheelchair accessible.
Paid street parking is available on Chicago Avenue.
