This week we looked at Yannis Ritsos’ poem, Because. We talked about the short form of poetry and the Volta: the place in a poem where it takes a ‘turn of thought or augment.’ We also flipped through dictionaries to include new language in our poem.
Lesson Note: Poet, Kaveh Akbar, recalls a peer saying that every poem is a Sonnet… if we focus on the volta. Food for thought.
