All of Us Are Poets! | ¡Todo Somos Poetas!

In celebration of all of the poems we’ve written this year, and Poetry Month, we are hosting a Café de Poesia/Poetry Cafe! Here are some of the poems students will read this week!

Why Friends Are Important

By, G’lyani

Friends are important because if you fall they will help you.

You can tell them anything and you can trust them.

If you are sad they will ake you happy.

They love you so much.

And they will make sure you are ok, and they are friendly.

They know when you’re sad or happy, they know what you like and hate.

That is very special.

Faith is in yourself.

real friends are nice to you.

it’s cool to be nice to you friend.

My Name Poem

By, Kaiden

Kangaroos are one of my favorite animals.

Are you nice with dogs?

I like dogs.

Do you like dogs?

Elephants are big and tall.

Night time is the best.

Family

By, Alex

Blood is thicker than water.

Family is better than money.

Money is meaningless, family is worth everything.

you still love them,

wherever you go you will miss them.

Love them.

Wherever you go, your family bond is tighter

than ink on paper.

Give love to your family and it will last for eternity.

Love lasts for eternity, love is the oldest thing in the world.

About Poetry

By, Amina

Poetry is mindful because it’s surprising to me to hear different poetry

Because they can be songs.

I like that it can be lovely and sweet,

and you have choices you can make for your poems.

I like how people’s poems can be joyful!

Poetry is graceful,

poetry is joyful,

poetry is meaningful,

poetry is power,

poetry is energy.

Rainy Days

By, Eden

It rains the day away, into the trees

then entering people’s hearts making people go to sleep so peacefully.

They go to school

they had fun, but they had a test before they had fun

they cried, they did not know about the test.

After the test they played board games and Kahoot

but it rains, so they did not go outside.

They were sad, after they got good sleep.

It was summer so they had fun,

they wanted it to rain but it was too hot.

Sonic

By, Samir

He is as blue as the sky, he can run as fast as flash

and he is as funny as a goofy goober.

Need a laugh?

He’s the guy born in 1980,

who runs around grabbing rings,

and fights a doctor that looks like an egg…

Now, let’s get back to the rest:

he likes to get emeralds,

there are 7.

Some are fake, the fake ones turn him into a wolf.

Some are real, now the real ones turn him super.

The Grandma

By, Achilles

Sunday in the summer.

My beautiful cooking and

cleaning grandma.

A big spatula with a pack of eggs

for the family, and

the family cooks too for her.

A comfortable night

next to my grandma.

Hearing her say,

“Sí tu me dejas, lavarte el pelo,

te doy cinco dólares.”

I quickly say, “Sí.”

She makes me feel

safe and good.

y no puedo salir y no puedo salir

veo tus recuerdos cuando estabas feliz

no me dejas vivir, no me dejas así.

Esos ojos necesitan

saber lo que sienten,

lo que ven,

pero el Jesús Cristo no nos deja saber

lo que viene después.

What The Year Felt Like

By, Allison

The color of the year is brown.

The year smells like chocolate chip cookies.

The year sounds like chimes.

The animal of the year looks like an American Bully.

I am looking forward to folding sheets.

My year is filled with kindness, and swimming.
