“a bright sound of a nice lime jingle”

This week Twain 3rd graders read and discussed “What is Brown?” by Mary O’Neill; then worked to combine sensory details, similes, and metaphors to describe color.

Bright lime is the sight of
grass.
A bright sound of a nice lime
jingle.
Bright lime is the smell of a
minty tree.
Bright lime is a fruity taste
from a watermelon.

the first thing
that comes to mind
is a red apple
it has a sweet taste.
pizza sauce
smells red like tomatoes
a fire alarm is red
and loud like thunder
and angry as fire.

All About Colors (group poem)

Red sounds like a fire alarm
it looks like a red leaf
getting blown by the wind
or a crunchy juicy apple when
you bite into it
maybe a red F1 car going super fast

A purple grape tastes like a sweet
explosion in your mouth
or a Grimace Shake from McDonald’s
Purple is a turkey doing a dance

Orange looks like the sun setting
It feels warm.
Orange is the color of a pumpkin
in a pumpkin patch
Orange fruit can be a bit sour
and exciting

Blue is cold and colorful as the sky
with soft pillow clouds

Mrs. Lamas
3rd Grade

light blue
reminds me
of the sky
blue violets and
raindrops
like tears
when I’m sad

light blue is soft
as a blanket
when you’re cold.
I hear the sound of light blue
in the wwhhooossh of
air
and taste it
in a bowl of blueberries
