Blackout at Shoesmith

Shoesmith students finished up the school year with a virtual lesson on blackout poetry. Blackout poetry is when poets use text from books, newspapers, or magazines to create visual art and poetry. Students experimented with blackout poetry by choosing pages from different stories, highlighting words and phrases that stood out to them, while eliminating unnecessary text in black.

With their digital paint brushes Shoesmith students created vibrant poetic artwork on their computer screens. Please enjoy these wonderful masterpieces.
