Starting off our poetry class at Smyser Elementary, we looked at a poem by Delia Garcia titled “Paint Me Like I Am” (workshop adapted by another PIR, Joy Young). These young poets learned about lines, stanzas, and repetitions as we explored painting with words through our poetry. Each poet created their own self-portrait poem. Here are some of the poems from each class:

most beautiful details,
Make me as beautiful
as a butterfly.
