Wintertime Love

Last week, Sayre’s 8th graders took a detour from their ick poems to write about people and things that they love. After watching Rudy Fransisco’s performance of “If I Was A Love Poet,” students talked about the similes they observed. We then moved on to writing our own poems. Check out a few of them below:

Love

by Ariana A.

Love is like a kite being

flown in the wind. When you

try to go straight it just flies in different directions.

Love is scary and exciting like a roller coster…

it goes up, down

left then right. So many times…

And sometimes love hurts as much

as breaking a bone. Your heart shatters but never truly repairs.

No matter how much time goes by

days, weeks, months and even years, your heart is never free…

longing for that Person… not caring about your own feelings but

theirs instead…

Love is Like…

by Alyssa P.

Love is like a game

You win and sometimes you lose

If you decide to go back to the game

its still going to be the some, nothing has changed

Maybe you decide to go to a different game

But its not going to be the same

Love is like a roller coaster

you have your favorite ride

You keep getting on everytime

But one day you get tired

love is like fake money

easy to be ripped

but hard to be put back together

My Love For Fortnite

by Evan A.

My love for Fortnite is as big as the Fortnite map.

Fortnite makes my heart rush like being the last person alive.

Fortnite makes me happy like getting a win.

Fortnite makes me sad as when I lose a game with good loop.

Fortnite makes me feel all emotions but I love Fortnite.

The Boxing Gym

by Itzel R.

Wake up today or tomorrow

it is always going to be boxing

If someone asks what is my favorite sport is?

it is always going to be boxing

if had to choose between basketball or boxing

The boxing gym is like home,

with silence in my ears,

with peaceful things around me,

with peaceful people around me,

with friends to talk to,

I enjoy the gym with

passion all around me.

Tink

by Kyle S.

From the time we saw each other we knew

we would be together. You and me strong like glue.

I love your sneeze. Ohcheooooo! When we kiss I

feel something inside me that I never felt before.

You are my everything, thoughts of a wedding ring,

be my wife, make me your husband and you my wife.

Start a family with me. We are so good together,

like cheese on bread.
