We are reading these poems about personification and questions & answers:
Has My Heart Gone to Sleep?
Antonio Machado
Has my heart gone to sleep? Have the beehives
of my dreams stopped working, the waterwheel
of the mind run dry, scoops turning empty,
only shadow inside?
No, my heart is not asleep.
It is awake, wide awake.
Not asleep, not dreaming—
its eyes are opened wide watching distant
signals, listening on the rim of vast silence.
Mi Corazón se ha dormido
Antonio Machado
¿Mi corazón se ha dormido? Colmenares de
mis sueños, ¿ya no labráis? ¿Está seca
la noria del pensamiento, los cangilones
vacíos, girando, de sombra llenos?
No; mi corazón no duerme. Está despierto,
despierto. Ni duerme ni sueña; mira, los claros
ojos abiertos, señas lejanas y escucha a orillas
del gran silencio.
Bajo la luna
Douglas Wright
Todos callados, bajo la luna;
el bosque, el lago, el cerro, el monte,
bajo la luna, todos callados.
Under the Moon
Douglas Wright
Everyone is quiet, under the moon;
the forest, the lake, the hill, the
mountain, under the moon, everyone
is quiet.

Cats Have Small Heads
by Julian L.
Cats have small heads for no reason.
like it’s the size of my palm,
so small it’s the size of a tile on the floor.
Why so small,
and why are the older cats
so fat and puffy and slow?
Writing
by Maliyah
My heart feels awake when I write
I feel at ease when I write
I feel everything in my mind go away.
Peace is the the feeling I get
when I write.
Mi Corazón
por Rosaura
Mi corazón está contento cuando voy al parque,
cuando me regala algo
y cuando voy a comprar con mi mamá,
y también cuando mi mamá me da
cariño y amor.
Goodnight Lake it’s Midnight
by Andraya H.
Waking up to the sound
of water swinging, birds flying
night welcomes itself.
Lake is quiet, midnight shows
stars waking up
moon rising, sun leaving,
goodnight lake, it’s midnight.
El Parque
por Areli L. & Orlenix V.
El parque, sus columpios que se mueven,
su resbaladillas que cuando se suben
se resbalan, sus pasamanos
que es fácil de resbalar y
en la noche se pone a jugar.
Ross
by Sierra
At Ross, sliding doors open up
and let us come in.
At Ross, clothes get ready to comfort people
by being kind and comfy.
At ross, the cash register feels good and ready
to keep money safe.
Untitled
by Noah
I love my cat, it is so cool
it nods its head for that food
and if you mess with him, he’ll give you
that pew-pew
and he knows what to do for that food.
Beauty Supply
by Amarii-onna
I went to the beauty supply to buy supplies I need
Like nails to put on top of my natural finger nails
And then I bought eyelashes, so I can look very pretty.
Then to top it off, I bought earrings.
And then I bought Crocs.
The nails that I bought were dancing,
So I can’t glue them on my fingers.
The eyelashes were crying so I won’t put them on my eyes.
The earrings were yelling at me.
The Crocs walked away.
