If you could ask the moon anything you wanted, what would you ask? And what would it say if it could respond? This week we talked about personification after reading Percy Bysshe Shelley’s poem The Lament. We talked about big life questions and things we wonder about that are larger than life. The ocean, trees, God, joy and sadness. Our 8th graders then practiced using personification in their own poems and wrote to these larger than life ideas. Please enjoy this week’s poets!

The more beautiful you became,
Taking a picture and having a frame.
The sound it makes when it rains
sounds like you’re in pain.
Trying to obtain the touch of lightning,
being scared of you when it’s brightening.
Tightening my cover
the rain comforting me as my mother.
O world are you tired of your job?
Are you so tired it makes you sob?
Tired and need a break while eating corn
on the cob.
