How can we talk about larger than life things and not get overwhelmed by the idea of it? This week we read The Lament by Percy Bysse Shelley and a piece by a former CPC student. Both pieces used personification as a tool to talk to life, time, and a star shining in the sky. Students got to work on their own pieces using personification to talk about some big questions. Enjoy this week’s poets!
The Mirror Me
Taja S.
To the mirror me,
If I hold a power what will it be?
You see all, I should see the future.
You reflect, I should be light.
You can shatter, I should be glass.
I should even see the past.
Why do we lie? I should fly.
What will happen if I die?
I should be able to make others cry.
To the mirror me,
what will my power be?
To The World
Kenidee F.
To the world
I have questions for you
not one but two
Just a few no more than two
Let me go ahead and ask you
Why do you create trees more so than leaves?
Why does it rain even though it doesn’t hurt my veins?
Why does it hale sometimes very stale
In the winter it’s very cold, when the grass grows a lot more.
Dear Sun
Janel D.
Dear Sun
Why can I feel you
everyday when I’m outside?
Where do you go when it’s night
time?
Why do you have no smell to you?
Why can I see you, but can’t feel you?

Dear Buddha,
Under your shirt are you fat or are you skinny?

Dear Buddha,
Do you like everybody?
