In this week’s Poetry Club we discussed Poems and Meaning with a special focus on observation/reflection. The poem we read together was “MI PROBLEMA” by Michelle Serros. We talked about the Author’s use of poetry to provoke change and the way in which she draws on moments and memories to paint a picture with words.

Sometimes I would wish that I can
Just be “Her”. So I made her,
She’s me now.
It’s okay to be alone. What
people should worry about is “Why
does your own presence make you
uncomfortable?”
The less he knows about me
the better I feel. I don’t answer
his questions because the fear
of answering them wins me over.
Their hearts leaning over, no money. and
a dirty house made me question myself
how did I even get here? I left them and
never looked back.
