Greetings Galileo poetry friends and followers! We began our week 2 lesson by exploring The Best Part of Me, a book of poems written by elementary school students about their favorite body parts, with photos by artist Wendy Ewald. Next, we took a deep dive into metaphors.
Students learned that metaphors compare two unlike things as if they are the same. Then, they created metaphors for their favorite and most powerful body parts, and arranged these unusual comparisons into new poems. This week’s collection of poetry should have you thinking, feeling, and dreaming differently about your head, fingers, knees, and nose.
