Programs Spotlight: No Love for Love and Poetry Out Loud Recap

No Love for Love 2023 is in the books

 
Thanks to Chicago Poetry Center’s donors, friends, and community members, this year’s No Love for Love was truly a night to remember. With your help, we met our fundraising goal of $90,000, which supports 30 classroom residencies. We’re grateful to everyone who partied with us at our sold out event at Haymarket House, and to all those who bid on silent auction items from home or were celebrating with us in spirit.

Special thanks to Poems While You Wait for crafting impromptu poems for guests all night and DJ CashEra for keeping the party lively and the dancefloor busy. Cooking Ovation provided tasty bites, and Glitter Guts made sure everyone looked fabulous in the photobooth. Four CPC Poets in Residence treated attendees to readings and performances about love for friends, love for that special someone, love for oneself, and even love for a school lunch lady.

Congrats to all Poetry Out Loud participants!

High school students stand on stage as they participate in the Poetry Out Loud state competition.
This month, fifteen high school students from the city and suburbs gathered at the Poetry Foundation to where they’ll illuminate the stage with poetry recitations for a chance to advance to the Poetry Out Loud state competition. CPC’s Poets in Residence served as contest judges, watching attentively and listening for accuracy.

 
Congratulations to all of the participants in the Chicago and Chicagoland Poetry Out Loud competitions, each already winners at their respective schools. Best of luck to those competing in the next round!
