Sylvia Plath’s poem “Mirror” explores the imagined persona of a mirror hanging in a house. What would your mirror say if it could talk?
4th period
Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall
Karmelle S.
I see everything
from the morning time ’til nighttime.
When you wake up I see the tiredness in your eyes.
When you think you’re feeling yourself, tossing your
hair, and smiling in my face,
I see your happiness.
When you are crying over another heartbreak
I can only offer my silver face and hope you see the
best in you.
When you are practicing songs, play lines, I’m your
number-one fan.
I don’t tell you the hurtful stuff that you see in
my silver face, but you do.
I only offer a place where you can come to see
if your makeup is right, if there is a crumb
on your face, or when you’re rushing and need
a quick glance in my face.
I’m only a mirror. I can’t speak, but you can.
Mirror
Kiwon W.
I see people every day
that always stop and
look at me
I know they trying
to find out who they
are but it feel like
they want to know who
I am
Mirror
Jonathan T.
I am everyone’s reflection.
I am the thing you look at
when you go on a date.
I am the judgement of your looks.
5th period
Mirror
Erika M.
I see white walls with beige tiles covering the bottom half
I see a girl with a towel hanger behind her
The girl with the dark brown hair is examining herself
I can see how she studies herself staring at her eyes
The girl is trying both lights
one which makes the room go darker the other which brightens
The girl is turning her face from left to right
My View
I am a four corner silver rectangle
A smiling, white grin girl visits me every day
She never has a frown when she visits me
She is as short as the sink
Blooming like the tree
She has a good sense of fashion
I can tell by the way
she views me, she has lots of self-esteem
She never stops looking at me
She never misses a day without viewing me!
Lost
Nicholas B.
The mirror sees tears falling down.
The mirror sees hurt and pain in the person’s eyes.
I see me lost up in the clouds and it’s a long
and hard way to come down.
7th period
Mirror
Hanani H.
I am a glass cabinet
that sees everything
I am your reflection
I can make you laugh
I can make you cry
I can even make you
change your looks
I watch you every day
I see that sometimes
you hate what you see
when you look at me
and I know that that
dress doesn’t bring out
your curves like you think
I know you hate me
but why keep coming back?
Fear of the Future
Charmauri N.
To love or to dislike,
to cry or to hurt, to look
through a mirror and not
feel the same, to be truthful
or to lie, I’ll just walk out
of your life without fear of the
future.

I am red and round
I like to get thrown around
I’m everybody’s favorite sport
Everybody wins trophies from me
I am a basketball
I’m a basketball
I’m filled with air
Everybody likes throwing me around
I get shot into the basket most of
the time
